Removed the htaccess method from Mark's post. That one breaks logins at least via admin, most likely also user login request url -> type password and submit -> htaccess drops off index.php ( redirect ) and login data is lost

The index.php issue has been taken care of in vl 1.4 along some other seo optimizations via php, so it also works for people without access to htaccess

I personally have no real experience monitoring uptime stuff. I think Mark made such a tool ( not VL ) if i remember right, but i bet its quite server intensive. Maybe only something if you have a dedicated server to handle monitoring so many sites. Ill ask him later

Yes like Mark says, this error returned is caused most likely by not up to date plugin. The latest facebook plugin update also started a session, and any old vote message plugin will return that error as those old version not checked if a session started or not.

Might be that hotmail is blocked, wouldn't suprise me on shared hosting. Or Hotmail blocks some hosting providers ( if possible ). Asking your host can answer that quickly.
