WYSIQYG Editor for users

I am thinking of adding a Wysiwyg HTML editor for my users.. Maybe making this more of a plugin so that anyone could do this..

What are your guys opinions, is this something that could be done with a little work?

EDIT: After further reading it looks like this implementation would just replace anything with a text area...

That would be one option, yes. The original description field is no use for an editor, unless maybe bbcode editor, but none which uses html.
