Premium Memberships.

Hi all,

I know in general it's not a good thing giving away premium memberships. In the industry I'm in on the odd occasion site owners swap upgraded or premium memberships, eg my friend has a text exchange so he gives me a lifetime upgrade and I return the favor with a premium membership at my toplist.

I have the premium promotion set up so new members get a 7 day premium account, when the 7 days were up as it should be my friend went back to free. I tried to set him up as a premium member manually and added 1000 days hoping he would stay premium for 1000 days when I save changes it says he is premium for 1000 days but if I leave the manage members and go to another section in the admin area and then return to manage members he is back to free membership or inactive.

How do I manually set up a free premium membership.

I do this all the time :)

login to admin -> manage members -> click edit beside the desired user

Set premium status to active
Set Premium Start date to today
Set total days to 1000
Set remaining days to 1000

click edit member at the bottom to save.

Done.

Yep, edit the member will solve your problem.

Also if some users have wrong typos, you can correct that too.

Hi All,

Thats what I did Mark but it keeps reverting back to inactive, I hit save changes then if I leave that page and then come back straight away. it says the member is inactive. Every now and then when I change a setting and hit save I get a white page but if I refresh the page, the page comes back. I've tried on chrome, firefox and safari.

You have an error somewhere, possibly caused by a plugin. A blank 0white page is a PHP error that is being suppressed you will need to check your error logs to see what is going wrong.


as you say "when you refresh it comes back", that would indicate a possible MySQL error on your server, if it was an error in the script it would be blank page no matter how many times you refresh it.

Hi mark Here are the error logs I will send them to my host too.

There is one error about the ads plugin but I have uninstalled that and will re-install it later.

Editing the templates is a problem too, When I changed the colors on the rankings page it looked like nothing changed but the next day I checked they had changed.

That error means the "Terms" plugin has been uploaded but not installed.

If you upload plugins via the admin panel they are automatically "installed" into the database as well. If you upload plugins using FTP you need to go to admin -> plugins and click the install icon.

Once you do that for the Terms plugin you should be all clear of that error.

Hi Mark,

I install all plugins via the admin panel. At the moment I can't access my admin panel...my bad I tried to add a down for maintenance splash page. Now I need to find the admin panel settings in cpanel so I can change the admin URL back to the admin URL at the moment it is showing the splash page URL when I go to the login page,, and my toplist is all over the place.

When you try doing things that may be over your head, make sure you take a backup first, an east way to bail yourself out.

Yes number one rule, and I do all the time on my Traffic Exchange I don't what I was thinking. Is there a fix for it or do I need to start from scratch?

I don't know what exactly you have done, so I cannot recommend any action.

I can login via FTP and mySQL and fix it, but you would need to pay for support time unfortunately as that is outside the scope of what we can offer free.

I would hate to hi-jack the thread but it relates to the title.

Will there ever be an option to set Premium to a monthly purchase, that always starts on the 1st of the month?

to answer your question, no that has never been requested and as such has never been considered. You can do this easily enough on your own using plugins and template edits.
