If you are using cPanel, you can find field " Error Pages ". There you can make errors for all errors like 404, 403, 500 etc... And you can make any HTML/CSS error page, i also think that VL only displays error for wrong username/passwords.

Mark is right, and google is smart. Google gives some extra weight to urls, but they also change their algorythm, at this point you shouldnt worry too much about that stuff :)
