I think in the General Settings tab there should be a maintenance button so only admin may go on the website until the theme is complete or adding additional things or even if the website is having problems then admin can just check Maintenance button then it will tell everyone that the site will be up very shortly or something also little small something make it so people can change what is written when the maintenance button is clicked. This might help people who have large sites.
